The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has partnered with Project Yoga Richmond to offer Saturday Salutations. Every other Saturday from June to October (weather permitting), you can head to the VMFA deck and get your yoga on. It is free, although donations are appreciated. The instructors vary as well as the organization they are benefitting. This week, the our ambassador was Twylahh Ekko and proceeds went to the Senior Center at Peter Paul. We arrived 20 minutes early and the deck was jammed! I had flashbacks to arriving late for a 5:30 pm Hot Flow class. On a scale from one to zen, I was feeling enlightened. We opted to stagger our mats next to the water, which was extremely tranquil. I had the perfect sun to shade ratio, nestled under a tree.
I can't lie, it was almost impossible to hear. The sound of running water muffled the sound, but overall I was happy with where we sat. We incorporated mudras into our practice, which I have never done before. It was mesmerizing to see so many mudras in unison.
The biggest surprise of the morning was the free chia bars! I wish I had taken a pin while I had the chance because I love my Health Warrior swag. Not sure if this happens every time, but I enjoyed the treat.
A beautiful day for yoga.
