SPRING 2015 MAKE UP TRENDS
Spring 2015 makeup trends that you'll be sure to see on the runway during RVA Fashion Week!
1. Supernatural Skin
In the midst of the contouring craze, super natural skin is WHAT'S UP for 2015. Model undone is a new vibe that looks just like it sounds. Tousled, messy hair that has just been let down from a bun; paired with flawless, naked skin. Maybe she just hopped off of a flight? Or came from the gym? In order to achieve that minimal, dewy glow, your complexion must be on point. So book your Spring facials now. Until then, try a highlighting powder like The Celestial Powder by Kevyn Aucoin or Ambient Lighting Powder by Hourglass. Give your bare skin a light dusting and blur imperfections while enhancing your complexion.
Gold, Silver, Bronze!! Metallics have been winning on the runway! The fabulous thing about high shine eyes is that you can rock 'em, day or night. Start with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer in Sin. Not only are you prepping your lids for all day wear, you're adding a champagne shimmer that can be rocked with just a swipe of mascara. Want more? Add a hint of Marc Jacobs Beauty Gel Liner in Mari Gold to your waterline or go full metal eyelid with Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Metallic Gilded Gold.
3. Graphic Liner:
I live for a statement eye! I am happier than ever to see bold eye liner up and down the runway! Double winged liner, painted eyelashes, and smudged brushstrokes that may have been left from the night before! Smoky lids, excessive mascara, the options to emphasis the eyes are endless. My current favorite look is a black cat-eye paired with pop of color. Add intensity to your lash line with bright accents, like MAC Cosmetics Pigment or Urban Decay Moon Dust Eyeshadow.
4. Flushed Cheeks:
Earlier this Winter, I was at a bakery when the cashier said 'It's either really cold outside or you're wearing blush' and I said, 'Both.' While I'm not going to miss the frigid temperatures, I am going to miss that wintry flush. Further perpetuating model undone, girls are strutting down the runway serving outdoorsy radiant realness. Maybe she just hit the slopes of Wintergreen? Or ran the Monument 10K ? You can recreate this look without leaving the house. Use your MAKEUP FOREVER Blending Blush Brush and blend downwards to really achieve that weather-flushed look. Try NARS Blush in Mata Hari or TARTE Amazonian Clay 12-Hour blush in Natural Beauty.
5. High Impact Lips:
The Pantone 2015 Color of the Year is Marsala, a deep berry red which makes for the perfect statement lipstick color. I am always down for a bold lip. This shade will forever remind me of my Mother, who has pioneered this grounded red for my entire life! The warmth of this earthy wine red is an unexpected gem that can be flattering on almost anyone. Bold red is timeless, great for Spring and even better in the Fall. Romantic vamp is not just a look for the runways. Get your seduction on! Try Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Cathedral or NARS Lipstick in Scarlet Empress.
